Item Usage

The Item Usage window helps you review frequently used ingredients or components by daily, weekly, or monthly usage. Use it to identify high-use items, order issues, and components that may require advance purchasing due to long lead times.

Overview

The Item Usage window provides a convenient way to sort and review your most used ingredients or components. The default date range is set to the past three months.

You can sort item usage by using the attributes at the top right of the window, clicking column titles, or searching within the grid.

Common Use

Item Usage is often used to identify ingredients that are used frequently but may need to be ordered in advance because of long supplier lead times.

How to Open Item Usage

  1. Open Inventory

    Go to Inventory in the Virtual Ops system.

  2. Select Item Usage

    Open Inventory > Item Usage.

  3. Choose a component

    Select an available component or ingredient from the dropdown.

How to Review Usage

  1. Set or review the date range

    The default view shows usage from the past three months.

  2. Sort the grid

    Use the attributes at the top right of the window or click column titles to organize the results.

  3. Search for items

    Use search to quickly locate a specific ingredient or component.

  4. Review high-use items

    Look for frequently used items that may need earlier ordering to help keep production moving.

Grid Action Buttons

View Customers

Select a component or ingredient to view usage broken down by customer.

Activity Report

Select a component or ingredient to view its past activity report.

Column Visibility

Change which columns are visible on the current grid. These selections are saved per user, browser, and grid.

Excel

Export the currently displayed grid data to Excel.

Planning Inventory

Use Item Usage regularly to help ensure you stay stocked on popular ingredients and components. This is especially helpful for items that take longer to arrive from distant suppliers.

Reviewing usage can help reduce the risk of running out of key products and needing to cancel customer orders because inventory is not readily available.
