Component Information
This page explains how components are created, categorized, tracked, and managed throughout the Virtual Ops system. Use this page to understand component records, inventory relationships, purchasing integration, costing, and operational workflows.
Components are heavily connected to purchasing, receiving, inventory, quoting, BPR generation, and fulfillment processes. Incorrect component configuration can affect operational calculations, inventory tracking, and production workflows throughout the system.
What Are Components?
Components represent all physical materials and operational items used throughout production and fulfillment workflows. This includes raw ingredients, packaging materials, labels, master cases, inserts, desiccants, containers, lids, capsules, and finished operational packaging materials.
Every component contains operational details used for inventory management, costing, purchasing, vendor relationships, production calculations, and receiving workflows.
Component Categories
Ingredients
Raw materials used in formulas and bonded calculations including powders, actives, excipients, and flavoring ingredients.
Packaging
Containers, lids, desiccants, shrink bands, labels, inserts, and shipping materials used for finished goods packaging.
Production Materials
Operational materials used during manufacturing, filling, labeling, or fulfillment processing.
Master Cases
Shipping cartons and outer packaging configurations used for palletization and fulfillment.
Labels
Primary and secondary labels associated with production and customer packaging requirements.
Capsules
Capsule shells used for encapsulated products including size and color tracking.
Core Component Information
Each component record stores operational information used throughout the system.

How to Create a Component
- Open Component Information
Navigate to the Component Information page from the main operational menu.
- Create a New Record
Select the create or add action to open the component configuration form.
- Assign Component Details
Enter component name, type, vendor relationships, costing information, and inventory settings.
- Configure Unit Information
Select the proper operational unit type and conversion information where applicable.
- Save the Component
Save the record to make the component available throughout operational workflows.

Create Component
Create a new component record for inventory, production, or packaging operations.
Edit Component
Modify operational details, costing, inventory settings, and vendor relationships.
Search Components
Locate components using names, vendors, types, or internal identifiers.
Filter by Type
Filter components by packaging, ingredient, capsule, or operational categories.

Export component information for operational review or reporting.
View History
Review historical updates, costing changes, and operational modifications.
Inventory Relationships
Component inventory is integrated throughout purchasing, receiving, manufacturing, and fulfillment workflows.
Cost Calculations
Component costs are used throughout quote generation, BPR calculations, purchasing workflows, and production costing.
Ingredient Cost Formula
(((Bonded Amount × Cost Per Unit) × Servings Per Bottle) × Container Count) ÷ Pills Per Serving = Total Batch Cost
Packaging Cost Formula
QTY Needed for Batch × Current Cost = Packaging Batch Cost
Current component costs may differ from quoted pricing depending on vendor updates, purchasing timelines, or inventory valuation changes.
Component Status Tracking
- Active - Component is available for purchasing, production, and operational workflows.
- Pending Approval - Component requires operational or QA review before use.
- Restricted - Component has operational limitations or workflow restrictions.
- Inactive - Component is disabled from operational use.
Grid Features
Sorting and Filtering
- Search components directly using the search box.
- Sort columns alphabetically or numerically.
- Filter by component type, vendor, or status.
- Combine filters to narrow operational results.
Column Visibility
Users can customize visible columns using the column visibility controls. Visibility settings remain stored for the current browser session and user preferences.
Nested Grid Data
Additional operational details may appear inside expandable nested rows depending on screen resolution and available columns.
